There is rheumatoid, osteoarthritis, gout and pseudogout, septic, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and many more. The advances in medicine today have made treating the different types of arthritis many. You can use medicine prescribed by your doctor or even over the counter drugs and also arthroplasty and this is only a couple of ways to treat arthritis symptoms. Our family dog Callie is 12 years old. Ever since she was a puppy, we would bring her in the garage at night. Callie now has arthritis, so laying on the concrete, even with her blankets, makes it hard for her to get up in the cold mornings. We bought her a heated bed and put it under her favorite blanket, but she refuses to lay on it. Instead, she lays on the other blanket. We tried taking that one out, but she only moves to the door mat. We took away the door mat, but then she just lays on the ground. How in the world do we get her to lay on it? The only use it gets is from our three cats. I really wish that she would lay on it because it would help her and keep her warm. Any suggestions? A doctor of course, however, I am wondering how you have scripts for all of the pain meds and the doctor has not already tested you for RA? If your doctor is just handing out scripts without finding the source of pain then my suggestion would be go to a NEW doctor. RA and many other auto-immune diseases can be diagnosed by blood tests/xrays.
Go back to work full-time if you can manage it. Work full-time until you are are 60 or 62 or as long as you can. You are so close to retirement age – and those benefits will always be better. Get job accommodation. Get some work from home hours. Do whatever you can do to stay employed long enough to get maximum benefit.
What a terrible tragedy. I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. Please consider adopting a shelter dog when you are ready. So many need a good home.
