I have an eight and a half year old beagle. He comes with some health problems. Just over a year ago he tore his cruciate ligament in his left back leg. I had surgery done on it to fix it and the surgery wasn't very successful. He constantly limped with that leg and sometimes hopped. About a month ago, he partially tore his other cruciate leg. Due to financial situations, I can't afford another cruciate surgery. He is currently on pain meds (Deramaxx) every day probably for the rest of his life, as well as on Glyco-Flex for his joints because now he has arthritis in the front 2 legs, and on omega oils. He is fully using his left leg now, and hopping on his right leg and sometimes limps on it. I have to carry him up and down stairs because he can't do it himself. When I pick him up sometimes he yelps. He is only eight and a half and I am not ready to say goodbye yet. Am I jeopardizing his quality of life, or is there another option for him when it comes to his pain?
Check with your SPCA and other chariable originaztions for dogs and/or animals. They have a buget they are allowed to spend to help people with their dogs health care, i.e., surgies, meds, vet expenses. It wont hurt to call get on a waiting list if you have to. They get a new budget at the beginning of their new fiscal year.

Added: Animal Control should be able to helpyou with a list of dog charties. It would and should be the same list that they use for people to get help with spay and neuter vouchers before the mandatory law.
